Could we see new Invincibles?

The two favourites for the Premier League before the season started, Manchester City and Manchester United, have fully lived up to expectations thus far and now some are wondering can it last the entire season?

Only twice in top-flight history in England has a team avoided defeat through an entire season – Preston North End were the first to do it in 1889 – the first ever league season – and that was not emulated until Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal did it in 2004.

Now some believe that there is a chance the Manchester clubs could complete the unlikely unbeaten season.

City are rated at 14/1 with United somewhat longer at 33/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s early days but this pair are looking unplayable right now, so we’re not ruling out a record-equalling season.”
