Shakespeare offered Leicester chance

Leicester City have asked Craig Shakespeare to stay on as manager until the end of the season.

Shakespeare is the current caretaker, stepping up from assistant following Claudio Ranieri’s sacking last month, and his two games in charge he has impressed hugely guiding the team to back-to-back wins over Liverpool and Hull City.

Shakespeare is now in Dubai meeting with the club’s Thai-based owners to hammer out a deal, and although he would like it to be a longer deal than until the end of the season – he looks ready to keep the job until the summer.

Happy

Our Football Insider Graeme Bailey understands that Leicester’s owners are very happy to keep Shakespeare, for now.

“Leicester’s owners have almost been vindicated for the hugely controversial sacking of Claudio Ranieri – following the two wins under Shakespeare, and they won’t him to continue,” said Bailey.

“But I have been told they are unlikely to hand him a long-term deal now as they want to see what options are available to them at the end of the season.”

Leicester are now five points clear of the relegation zone and best price for the them to be relegated is 8/1 with bet365.

bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth told TheGamblingTimes.com: “Craig Shakespeare seems to be getting a tune out of the under performing Foxes since the departure of Ranieri. Two wins and six goals suggest the dressing room is united once more and that can only help in their quest for Premier League safety.”
