Swansea have told Everton that they need to up their bid if they want Gylfi Sigurdsson, but the two clubs remain in talks.
Speculation suggested that the deal for the Icelandic midfielder was off, but whilst talks have reached an impasse – the two clubs remain in communication.
Football INDEX Watch – Gylfi Sigurdsson £1.43 – The Icelander will surely move and he looks great value at the moment
Sources close to the deal have told me that the two clubs are around £5million apart in valuation – Swansea want an overall package worth £50million but Everton are thus far willing to go that high.
However, talks continue and indeed sources on both sides remain confident that a deal will be done.
Swansea are already looking at the options to replace SIgurdsson with West Bromwich Albion’s Nacer Chadli a player I understand is very high on their wanted list.
Bookmakers also believe that the Sigurdsson deal firmly remains on, and SkyBet still make Everton 1/10 to land him and he is 11/2 to stay with Swansea.
