Slavisa Jokanovic odds-on in sack race

Slavisa Jokanovic is odds-on favourite to be the first Premier League boss sacked this season.

Jokanovic saw his Fulham side sink to the bottom of the table on Monday following defeat at previously win-less Huddersfield.

“I know in this kind of situation many things can happen, but it is outside of my control,” said Jokanovic.

“Other people, if they need to say something, they can use some words.

“The players must fight – this is a tough competition.”

With Fulham due to face Liverpool this weekend – Bookmakers believe that Jokanovic’s time at Craven Cottage is about to come to an end.

Betway now make him 8/13 to be first top-flight boss to leave his role.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Five straight losses for Fulham in the league, including to relegation rivals Cardiff and then Huddersfield last night, has left the west London club at the foot of the table and Slavisa Jokanovic skating on very thin ice.

“He was punted into 5/1 from 7/1 ahead of their loss to Cardiff, which then saw him slashed to 2/1, and having taken plenty of money at 4/6 this morning, he’s now just 8/13 to be the first Premier League manager to leave their post.

“Somebody who could spring a surprise in the so-called Sack Race is Mauricio Pochettino. The Spurs boss has been backed into 8/1 from as big as 33/1 amidst speculation that Real Madrid are once again after his services.”
