Tottenham Hotspur are pushing ahead with a deal for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.
Villa’s insistence for a fee near the £30million mark had put off most suitors, but Spurs have emerged as the favourites to land him.
Spurs are now confident of completing a deal for the 22-year-old, who they would ideally like to be on their forthcoming tour of the United States.
Villa would ideally like to keep Grealish, a Villa fan who has come through the youth ranks, but despite an announcement of major investment in the club from the Middle East – they will allow him to leave at the right price.
Bookmakers are convinced that Spurs are set to capture Grealish, and he is short as 1/5 to join Spurs.
Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “Jack Grealish was one of the stars for Aston Villa in the Championship last season, but with the club’s off-field problems, he looks set for a move away from Villa Park.
“Tottenham lead the race for his signature at 1/5 as they seek their first signing of the transfer window ahead of their move to the new White Hart Lane.
“He’s 9/2 to stay put at Villa, while Chelsea come next at 13/2 as new manager Maurizio Sarri weighs up his new squad.”
