Great news regarding the wonder filly Enable who has been given the green light by connections to continue racing next year with a bid to emulate Treve’s feat of winning back-to-back Arcs the highlight. Trainer John Gosden won the last Arc at the old Longchamp with Golden Horn and it is likely he will have at least two leading contenders for the new Longchamp in 2018 with Cracksman’s season also likely to revolve around a tilt at Arc glory.

Enable is 3/1 with BetVictor to win the 2018 Arc and odds on 4/7 to win three or more Group 1’s in 2018 and 11/8 to win two or fewer. The filly won five Group 1’s this season and one would imagine if she stays sound many of the big ten or 12f races will be hers to lose, but she must stay sound. A fascinating market but one that makes limited appeal from a punting perspective.

There is a good 12f handicap for three-year-olds at Leicester this afternoon. Just In Time was beaten over today’s C&D back in August from a 13lbs lower mark but is improving at a rate of knots. The gelding has won his last couple of starts including at Kempton last time and must go close in his hat-trick bid.

Fibonacci (1.50) broke his maiden with ease at Haydock last time having been off the track since disappointing in mid-summer at Doncaster. He is invariably been well backed in his races (went off 11/2 on debut against Cracksman) and the suggestion is he might be a bit better than he has shown so far. Trainer Hugo Palmer insists he will make up into a decent stayer next term and if that is the case, he should be competitive off his current mark.

The £25,000 mile-and-a-half handicap is a hot race with Blakeney Point sure to have his supporters after the form of his recent Newbury win was given a boost when runner up Danehill Kodiac made all in the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

He must go close as must Sumbal who was too free to do himself justice on his reappearance and the hope is that he will be more amenable to restraint with that run under his belt. There is plenty of pace in the race, which should suit, but I’m not convinced the David Simock yard are in the best of form.

The vote goes to Night Of Glory (3.55) who may have run into one when finishing runner-up at Haydock behind Gosden’s unbeaten Royal Line who might make up into something more than a handicapper next term.

At Newcastle Mahabba (5.25) can make it third time lucky for connections in the 12f maiden stepping up in trip on her all-weather debut. There are mixed messages as to whether this daughter of Galileo needs this trip on breeding, but she stayed on strongly over 10f on soft ground at Nottingham when last seen back in July and connections will be keen to get a win under her belt.

Marmion (5.55) hung left at Beverley last time but ran well in the circumstances and can defy 9st 10lbs in the 12f handicap for Les Eyre. The gelding is not the most consistent of animals but has bits of form that make his very well treated off a mark of 65. He has not beaten a horse home in his last three starts on an artificial surface but he finished runner-up at Lingfield on debut behind subsequent St Leger winner Simple Verse!

Connections looked to have found an ideal opportunity for Poli Roi (2.25) to make a winning hurdling debut in the opener at Galway. The selection cost Gigginstown Stud £300,000 at auction back in November before winning a Navan Bumper in February. Trainer Gordon Elliot allowed him to take his chance in Punchestown’s Champion Bumper although he was no match for stablemate Fayonagh.

Great to see Mala Beach back on track after a lay-off spanning over 500 days but Arbe De Vie (4.00) didn’t quite get home over 3m in the Kerry National last time and will appreciate the return to the scene of his C&D win on his penultimate start back in August.
