Kicking off the fourth day of Glorious Goodwood at 1.50pm is the Bombay Sapphire Glorious Stakes.

I’d guess there will be a few people who have already had their fair share of the Bombay Sapphire this week, but come rain or shine, people will be having a good time at Goodwood.

Mirage Dancer is the jolly for this contest and given his facile success in a Listed race at Goodwood earlier in the season, it’s not hard to see why he’s fancied. He finished very close to a higher rated individual in Best Solution and ahead of Duretto. That’s good form and sets the standard.

Second Step was runner-up last year and after winning a small field Listed race at Newmarket he should be ready for this. He has to be respected as does Red Verdon, who has been the bridesmaid far too often recently. Ed Dunlop is 0-22 with his most recent runners and that doesn’t bode too well.

It looks between the front pair in the market and sorry to be unoriginal but Mirage Dancer for me.

The five furlong King George Stakes should be all about Battaash. He won the Temple Stakes before a runner-up performance in the King’s Stand. He’s adept on any ground and looks miles clear of his rivals, especially as he won this race last year.

I always respect course form at Goodwood, so recent Curragh winner Havana Grey should be in the mix. Take Cover has a great record here but may be a bit long in the tooth, however if you fancy an each way against the fav I think Main Desire could be capable of better than he showed at Ascot. He missed the break that day and was wisely saved for another day. The return to five furlongs and the extra month to get him ready could see him outrun his 14/1 price tag. Could be worth a dabble each way.
