Tony Pulis odds-on for Boro role

Tony Pulis is odds-on to become the new manager of Middlesbrough following Garry Monk’s departure.

Monk was axed by Boro just hours after victory at Sheffield Wednesday, and with the club in ninth place – three points off the play-offs.

Boro made their move after making little impact on the promotion picture despite spending over £50million in the summer, despite only appointing Monk in the summer.

Pulis, who recently left West Bromwich Albion, is now the strong favourite to make a return to management and take the hot-seat at The Riverside.

BetVictor make Pulis 2/5 favourite ahead of Nigel Pearson at 8/1.

And in a strange twist, Sheffield Wednesday – who were beaten by Boro in Monk’s final game – have confirmed the departure of their manager Carlos Carvalhal.

Monk is actually amongst the favourites to now take charge at Hillsborough along with another former Boro boss in the shape of Aitor Karanka.
