Tottenham have no intention of selling Eric Dier

Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of selling Eric Dier to Manchester United or any other club who might make a move for him in the foreseeable future.

The 23-year-old has become a key performer for Spurs and England in the last couple of seasons, and he has only recently committed to a long-term contract.

However, such is football that even a new long-term deal does not stop players being linked or clubs making moves for players.

Dier has long been linked with a host of clubs, with European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich amongst his admirers, but now Manchester United are being strongly linked.

But a source close to Tottenham has told me: “Dier is one of the crown jewels and he is rated as highly as Dele Alli and Harry Kane, he really is.

“There have been enquiries, but there is no way that Dier will be going.”

Poch reaction

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has himself reacted to the news of Dier being linked with other clubs and insists that Spurs have made him the player he is, due the fact the team is built around him.

“It’s important to analyse Eric from where he came because I think people are a bit confused sometimes,” said the Tottenham boss.

“When we signed him he was a player with potential.”

We spoke with BetVictor’s head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt on the Dier market.

“Eric Dier has established himself with Spurs as one of their most influential players and Gareth Southgate has even spoke about the player as a potential England captain,” he told TheGamblingTimes.com.

“He is sure to be in demand if he decides to leave White Hart Lane but the big price tag around his head may put off potential suitors. Manchester United are 4/1 favourites to capture the defensive midfielder and with them openly expressing interest and the fact many expect the Red Devils to get the cheque book out, it would be no surprise if United were to press ahead with their pursuit this summer.”
