The odds on Manchester United landing Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane have been slashed following reports that Jose Mourinho would rather have the England man, than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho has told his United bosses that if they wanted to spend something over £100million on their former star Ronaldo – whose unrest at Real Madrid has been well reported – he would rather they use it on Kane.
Tottenham star Kane has so far alluded a lot of transfer talk this summer, but now he is once again being linked with a move to United – a team he has been constantly linked too in recent years.
Kane only signed a new long-term in December and Spurs would reportedly demand £200million but it is reported United would now like both him and Ronaldo’s Real Madrid team-mate Alvaro Morata.
Bookmakers have reacted to the reports linking Kane with United again and have slashed the odds to 6/1 from 20/1.
It’s also just 4/1 for United to break the record transfer fee for a player (currently £89m) this summer, and Ladbrokes aren’t taking any chances on that money being spent on Kane.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s early days, but such a drastic fall in odds overnight tells us all we need to know here. United have money to spend – and if they’re after a world class striker, they won’t get much better than Kane. Don’t be surprised to see that 6/1 fall further over the coming weeks as interest intensifies.”
