United forced to stick with Sanchez

Manchester United will not be able to move on from Alexis Sanchez, even if they wanted to, because of his huge contract at Old Trafford.

Some within the corridors of power at the club have questioned his signing, but United’s hierarchy also realise that the player’s finances mean he is almost untouchable.

Sanchez is understood to be earning around £500,000-a-week – making him the highest paid player in the Premier League – he is on a deal until 2022.

The Chilean has done anything but live up to his price tag since arriving from Arsenal in January this year, but talk of the player leaving look remote.

Sources close to the club have confirmed to me that whilst Sanchez has under-performed, they remain hugely impressed with his attitude and commitment to the cause.

It now seems that the likes of Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, are much more likely to depart ahead of Sanchez.

Bookmakers believe that there could yet be a move in the pipeline for him,

As things stand, Ladbrokes make Napoli (10/3), AC Milan (4/1), Juventus (9/2) and Inter (5/1) the favourites for his signature, although a shock move to Chelsea isn’t being ruled out at 6/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Sanchez is struggling to find any form under Jose Mourinho and if his dry spell continues, it won’t be long before he’s on the move again.”
