United have held Lucas talks

Manchester United have held talks over signing Paris Saint Germain winger Lucas Moura.

However, sources have told me that they were hoping to land him on-loan with a view to a permanent deal – something which at this moment in time PSG have rejected.

United, who came close to signing Lucas before he moved to the French capital in 2013, would like to bolster their squad this month – with boss Jose Mourinho wanting a left-back and a forward at least.

The chance to sign Lucas has now emerged, and whilst United be willing to pay close to £30million for the 25-year-old – that would be in the summer, after a loan deal.

Sources in France believe Lucas is keen to make the move to United, but he won’t be forced out by PSG – unless it is a deal that he wants.

It now remains to be seen if United and PSG can agree terms.

Bookmakers have been quick to make United firm favourites to land the player, and he is already 2/1 to join United with BetVictor.

BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt said: “Brazilian winger Lucas Moura has indicated he would welcome a move away from French champions PSG with Manchester United 2/1 favourites from 4/1 to persuade him to move across the channel.

“He is one of a number of players been linked with the Red Devils but may just be the type of player the red side of Manchester need to reinvigorate their season.”
