United new favourites for League Cup repeat

Manchester United have been made favourites to reclaim the League Cup after the third round draw.

All the Premier League clubs who are in European action have now entered the competition and United have been handed a home clash with Championship Burton Albion.

Liverpool and Manchester City both have top-flight opposition to overcome in the shape of Leicester and West Brom, respectively.

Arsenal host League One Doncaster Rovers whilst Chelsea are at home to Nottingham Forest – fresh from their giant-killing of Newcastle United.

Everton take on Championship Sunderland, whilst Tottenham will host Barnsley or Derby.

BetVictor’s head of antepost Football Michael Triffitt confirmed that they had made United favourites.

“The Big Six were kept apart with Manchester United new favourites at 5/1 from 7/1 after been paired with Championship struggles Burton at Old Trafford. Neighbours City are 6/1 from 7/1 even though they face a tricky tie at West Brom. The Citizens have been very popular for this event however and remain our biggest losers,” he said.

“Chelsea also shorten a point to 6/1 and will be pleased with a home tie although opponents Nottingham Forest have started the season well and after winning at Newcastle last night will relish their visit to the Bridge. Arsenal are 7/1 from 9/1 after been handed a winning opportunity against League One Doncaster at home whilst Spurs remain 9/1 despite a home tie with either Derby or Barnsley and Liverpool ease to 10/1 from 9/1 after been handed a trip to Leicester.

“Plenty of teams have been pushed out as the big boys shorten so a fair few juicy prices about but if all goes to form the next round should see the big clubs coming together.”
