Manchester United have seen their title odds cut in half after an impressive opening day win over Chelsea.

United claimed a 4-0 win over Frank Lampard’s Chelsea at Old Trafford.

“We know we’re not anywhere near the finished article,” said United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.

“We are working on improving as a team and finding a style that suits us a team. We still need time but it is coming. Winning is a habit.”

The Red Devils had started the season as 11/8 shots to regain top-four status but they are now Even money to find themselves in the Champions League spots.

Their chances of winning their first league title in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era have also been backed into 20/1 from 40/1 following their opening day victory.

Manchester City and Liverpool both started with convincing victories against West Ham and Norwich respectively and remain clear in the outright betting, with City 2/5 from 4/9 to retain the title and Liverpool out to 3/1 from 11/4 to win their first top flight crown since 1990.
