USA odds-on to beat Europe in Ryder Cup

Europe have finalised their team for the Ryder Cup but USA are firm favourites to retain the trophy.

USA took the honours in Hazeltine two-years ago, but Dane Thomas Bjorn is hoping to bring home the trophy after confirming his selections for the competition in Paris later this month.

Bjorn confirmed his four wild-card selections as experienced quartet Paul Casey, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia and Henrik Stenson.

The four selections join automatic selections Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Alex Noren and Thorbjorn Olesen.

“All four bring loads of experience, points and won and how to win and lose and they will bring plenty of heart,” said Bjorn.

USA captain Jim Furyk has named Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau in their team as wild-cards with one more to be confirmed next week – with Tony Finau firm favourite to take the final slot.

The powerful looking USA squad are favourites to in in Europe for the first time since 1993 when they triumphed at The Belfry.

Europe are 6-5 with leading bookmaker Coral to win, with the USA favourites at 5-6, while the draw is 10-1.

“Despite home advantage, Europe are odds-against to win back the Ryder Cup this year after captain Thomas Bjorn revealed his four wildcards picks for the tournament,” said Coral’s John Hill.
