Bookmakers have slashed Watford’s Premier League odds after a dazzling start to the new season.
Watford were priced at 5,000/1 to win the Premier League before the season started, indeed they were just 13/8 to be relegated – they are now 11/2.
But things have turned around somewhat after such an excellent start to the season – which currently seems them in fourth place in the table.
Their title odds have been cut to 1,000/1 by BetFred whilst a top-four finish is now rated at 80/1 from 200/1.
“The unfashionable Hornets were pre-season 5,000/1 at Betfred to be champions and amongst the favourites at 13/8 to be relegated,” said BetFred spokesman Peter Spencer.
“But Marco Silva’s side, who chalked up a comfortable 2-0 win at Southampton on Saturday are riding high in fourth place ahead of fancied Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal.
“Watford are now 1,000/1 for the title although their unbeaten start will come under severe threat next Saturday when they host in form Manchester City, who head the table alongside Manchester United on ten points from the first four games.”
