West Brom eye Derek McInnes

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is a leading candidate to take charge at West Bromwich Albion.

McInnes is a former Baggie having spent three successful years with them as a player.

The 46-year-old former Bristol City and St Johnstone boss, has forged a big name for himself for the work he has done at Aberdeen and has turned down approaches from English clubs in the past 12-months, most notably Sunderland.

But now sources believe that McInnes would be open to the idea of taking charge at The Hawthorns, despite relegation to the Championship looming for the Black Country outfit.

Bookmakers have former Wolves, Sunderland and most recently Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy favourite at 2/1 but McInnes is amongst the other contenders at 7/1.

“Derek McInnes has done an excellent job with Aberdeen over the last five years and many punters have recognised that and are backing West Brom to the turn to the Scotsman to be their next permanent manager,” said Coral’s John Hill.
