Weekly Golf Preview – Hero World Challenge

Only one major event on the golfing calendar to look at this weekend with the ever fascinating Hero World Challenge.

The 18-man field is hosted by Tiger Woods and is played in The Bahamas at The Albany.

It may only be a small field, but it boasts huge prize money, and the limited field event has proved hugely popular.

See below as we run through the tournaments for you including facts, odds and picks from our own golfing professional Cliff Jackson and Betfair.

HERO WORD CHALLENGE

  • The Albany, Bahamas
  • First staged in 2000
  • Current champion is Rickie Fowler

FIELD: Only an 18-man field, but is full of the world’s top players with Tiger Woods hosting the event, and also playing. Defending champion and favourite is Rickie Fowler.

QUOTES: Fowler is happy to be in the Caribbean this week looking to defend his crown.

“I love to play golf. I think some of it is at times maybe wanting it too much or
maybe pushing too hard. Just go out and have some fun. Obviously, I want to try and play the best that I can, that’s going to happen, but a little bit more just kind of letting things happen, go out there and have fun and kind of play the game and enjoy it.’’

The pro’s point of view…

Our resident golf expert is Cliff Jackson. Cliff is a leading youth coach and PGA professional at the famed Seaton Carew Links – one of the oldest courses in the world.

A really interesting an event, and I guess with only 18 to chose from you have to have a decent chance.

Tiger is playing very well this year and he can’t be ruled out – the same goes with defending champion Rickie Fowler but I will go with Patrick Reed to do something here.
