Weekly Golf Preview – Valero Texas Open

See below as we run through the tournament for you including facts, odds and picks from our own golfing professional Cliff Jackson and 32Red’s Jack Milner.

VALERO TEXAS OPEN

  • The Oaks Course at the TPC San Antonio, Texas
  • First staged in 1922
  • Current champion is Andrew Landry

OVERVIEW: Just a week away from The Masters – the opening Major of the golf season – and many players use the Texas Open for preparation.

A very popular event, with a distinguished history – it is the sixth oldest professional golf tournament in the world, and the third oldest on the PGA Tour.

Texas native Jordan Spieth is present and will be hugely popular, but favourite for the event is his good friend Rickie Fowler. Andrew Landry is the defending champion.

The pro’s point of view…

Our resident golf expert is Cliff Jackson. Cliff is a leading youth coach and PGA professional at the famed Seaton Carew Links – one of the oldest courses in the world.

An interesting week, with some of the world’s best taking it off ahead of Augusta, but a lot of big American names are present.

Jordan Spieth is on home soil and has gone well here before, so I expect him to get into his stride here – whilst I think Luke List could be one to watch.
