Weekly Golf Preview with 32Red

See below as we run through the main golf tournaments this week, including facts, odds and picks from our own golfing professional Cliff Jackson with odds from 32Red.

ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP

  • Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, Japan
  • First staged in 2019

OVERVIEW: An all new tournament with the PGA sanctioning an event in Japan for the first time and it has a big purse with nearly £2million for the winner. Another twist is that the event has not cut, just 78 players playing 72 holes.

This event always looked an intriguing prospect and the players have clearly taking to playing in the Far East. Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy are the headline acts with local hero Hideki Matsuyama also one of the more fancied contenders.

PORTUGAL MASTERS

  • Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, Portugal
  • First staged in 2007
  • Current champion – Tom Lewis

OVERVIEW: The Portugal Masters is one of the European Tour’s richest events and often attracts a very good field.

The 2019 event is not the best we have ever seen in Portugal, but it does include defending champion Tom Lewis who is looking to win this for a third team.

Our resident golf expert is Cliff Jackson. Cliff is a leading youth coach and PGA professional at the famed Seaton Carew Links – one of the oldest courses in the world.

The Zozo Championship looks a brilliant new event and I will be keeping a close eye on this one all weekend.

I think that Hideki Matsuyama will go well, but I would have liked to have seen bigger odds than 16/1 and I also believe Viktor Hovland will again do well.

In Portugal, I do think that Lucas Bjerregaard is due to deliver, whilst Tom Lewis at 20/1 to defend his crown is a very good bet

Cliff’s Picks…
Hideki Matsuyama at 16/1 with 32Red for the Zozo Championship
Viktor Hovland at 33/1 with 32Red for the Zozo Championship

Tom Lewis at 20/1 with 32Red for the Portugal Masters
Lucas Bjerregaard at 22/1 with 32Red for the Portugal Masters
