Weekly Golf Preview with 32Red

See below as we run through the main golf tournaments this week, including facts, odds and picks from our own golfing professional Cliff Jackson with odds from 32Red.

NEDBANK GOLF CHALLENGE

  • Gary Player Country Club, Sun City, South Africa
  • First staged in 1981
  • Defending Champion: Ernie Els

OVERVIEW: The tournament became part of the European Tour on 2013 and is now part of the Rolex Series – making it a huge lure.

Lee Westwood is the defending champion and returns to try and win the tournament for a fourth time, but he looks to have a big task on his hands with a very talented field on show, including Bookies and fans favourite Louis Oosthuizen.

MAYAKOBA GOLF CLASSIC

  • Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico
  • First staged in 2007
  • Defending Champion: Matt Kuchar

OVERVIEW: Originally an alternate event, the most expensive event played in Mexico was given a proper place on the PGA calendar in 2013 and is now a hugely respected competition attracting very good fields.

Matt Kuchar is the man defending the title, and he comes in as one of the favourites alongside the likes of Tony Finau and Jason Day.

Our resident golf expert is Cliff Jackson. Cliff is a leading youth coach and PGA professional at the famed Seaton Carew Links – one of the oldest courses in the world.

I really like the look of these two competitions this week, both high class events.

The Nedbank looks an excellent field, and I am going for home favourites to do well – I think Louis Oosthuizen and Erik van Rooyen will both do very well.

In Mexico for the Mayakoba, and defending champion Matt Kuchar will be in contention and I hope to see my firm favourite Viktor Hovland doing well.

Cliff’s Picks…
Louis Oosthuizen at 8/1 with 32Red for the Nedbank Challenge
Erik van Rooyen at 18/1 with 32Red for the Nedbank Challenge

Matt Kuchar at 18/1 with 32Red for the Mayakoba Classic
Viktor Hovland at 18/1 with 32Red for the Mayakoba Classic
