The Bookies point of view…
32Red’s Sponsorship manager Jack Milner delivers a weekly verdict on each tournament.
There was a lot to like about Louis Oosthuizen’s weekend at Innisbrook and he looks a brilliant price at 50/1 for this week’s WGC Match Play in Texas. The South African has been terrific over the last 12 months; winning The South African open in his own backyard, and has been the model of consistency thereafter. The 36-year old shot 65-69 over the weekend to lose by a shot last weekend and, being a terrific player in the MP sphere, can hopefully better his runner-up finish, when bettered by Jason Day in 2016, should give a solid account en-route to yet another crack at a first green jacket next month at Augusta.
Taken Match Play quite literally, nobody has played better than Francesco Molinari, who famously went 5-0 in last year’s Ryder Cup in Paris. The Race to Dubai and Champion Golfer formed a formidable partnership with accomplice Tommy Fleetwood as Europe regained The Ryder Cup in France, and the Italian has already shown he’s back to his best already this season. Molinari shot a final round 63 to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Kevin Kisner squandered an early lead at The Valspar, eventually finishing T24, but showed unbelievable clutch to beat Alex Noren in last year’s semis and looks a big price at 70/1. At bigger prices Justin Harding arrives on the back of brilliant performances with the putter on the European Tour and looks too big at around the 150s mark.
