Wenger denies Sanchez reports

Arsene Wenger has angrily denied that Alexis Sanchez walked out of training last week and then was dropped from the game at Liverpool as a result.

Wenger’s decision not to start Sanchez was one of the talking points of the weekend – he was brought on at half-time and set up their only goal in the 3-1 loss at Anfield.

The Arsenal boss stated on the day it was a ‘tactical’ decision but since then reports have emerged that he had a fall out with at least one team-mate prior to the game and left training early.

But Wenger insists this is not the truth.

“I’m not aware. Nothing at all,” he said when asked about a bust-up.

“Completely false. But I understand that you have to fill the newspapers and we respect that. And when you don’t win the games it is not always down to real stories.”

“Alexis Sanchez has 15 months on is contract so the decision will depend on Arsenal Football Club, not on anyone else”

He also insisted that there had been no breakdown in the relationship between him and the player.

“My relationship is honest and normal like with every player,” said Wenger.

“Alexis Sanchez has 15 months on is contract so the decision will depend on Arsenal Football Club, not on anyone else.”

Sanchez, though, continues to be linked with a move away from the club and the odds on him leaving are getting shorter.

We spoke with Bleacher Report UK’s Football Insider Dean Jones for his take on the Sanchez situation and he believes it is a straightforward scenario.

“It is interesting Wenger has taken a huge stance, and you could look at it like this – for the future of Arsenal, who do you want, Sanchez or Wenger,” he told TheGamblingTimes.com.

“If Wenger stays I can’t see Sanchez staying.”

He is now just 2/1 to join Paris Saint Germain this summer, and we spoke to SkyBet’s Dale Tempest about the market.

“He is 2/1 to leave now and that has just been the market moving rather than a lot of money, it is still a close call when it comes to the odds on him,” Tempest told TheGamblingTimes.com.
