Wenger on course for Milan role?

Arsene Wenger could be set to take charge of Italian giants AC Milan.

69-year-old Wenger has already revealed that he is ready to step back into management, after leaving Arsenal in the summer.

But it could be Arsenal relations that are set to be rekindled at the San Siro – where former Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis is due to take charge on December 1.

Gazidis and Wenger remain close, and one of his closest confidants – his former chief scout Gilles Grimandi, has also been strongly linked with a move.

Wenger has been quick to deny, however, that he has already agreed to take over from Gennaro Gattuso.

“The only thing I can say is that it is fake news,” said Wenger when asked about the rumours.

“I cannot master the rumours, I can only master what I do in my life. At the moment I am just focused on doing well for beIN SPORTS.”

Bookmakers, though, firmly believe that Wenger could very well be teaming up with Gazidis in the near future.

Having been an 11/8 shot following Gazidis’ appointment in Milan, the bookies now make it just 1/3 Wenger’s next move takes him to the Italian giants.

The French job is priced up at 6/1, while the former Arsenal boss is on the drift in the next Real Madrid manager betting (12/1).

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Wenger’s availability is bad news for Gattuso at Milan. That, coupled with Gazidis’ relationship with the Frenchman means it’s now more likely than ever that Wenger will take over at the San Siro.”
