Jack Wilshere is locked in talks with West Ham United, who are hopeful of beating Turkish giants Fenerbahce to his signature.
Fenerbahce have made the England international a sizeable offer to move to Istanbul on a free transfer this summer.
The 26-year-old has been seriously considering the offer from Fener, which would have nearly double his previous wages, whilst any offer from West Ham would be less than what he turned down to remain with Arsenal.
Wilshere has now met with West Ham, whilst other English clubs have been talking to him – including Fulham, Crystal Palace and Everton.
But The Hammers appear to be first option should he remain in the Premier League, which sources close to the player believe is more likely at this stage.
Bookmakers have now suspended their markets with West Ham being backed to odds-on.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Fenerbahce once led the way, but the Hammers have since emerged as favourites over the last few days.”
