Wilder claims Joshua terms are agreed

Deontay Wilder claims that an agreement to fight Anthony Joshua, which would see the heavyweight division unified, has been agreed.

Wilder holds the WBC title, the only one which Joshua does not as he holds the WBA, IBF and WBO belts.

The 32-year-old has claimed that terms have been agreed and Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn says contracts are being sent.

“It’s all come as a bit of a shock that Deontay’s finally come back to us on the offer and seems to accept the terms,” said Hearn.

“One thing I can tell you is that by the end of this week Deontay Wilder will have a contract in front of him and we’ll see if he’s real.”

Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel has told ESPN that they have accepted to fight in the UK.

“Deontay sent an email to Joshua [Sunday] night, and I sent one [Monday] to Barry Hearn and Eddie telling them that we officially accept the offer to fight under the terms they gave us and to send us the contract,” Finkel said.

Should the fight go ahead, the inner of the bout would be the first ever heavyweight to hold all four recognised belts at once.

Bookmakers are already taking bets on the fight, and Joshua is firm favourite and Unibet make him odds-on at 11/25 whilst Wilder is 7/4
