Willian insists he is staying put

Brazilian star Willian has confirmed that he is not leaving Chelsea this summer, despite interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.

29-year-old Willian was widely expected to depart Stamford Bridge after falling out of favour last season under Antonio Conte.

However, Maurizio Sarri has since replaced Conte and despite interest from the biggest clubs in the world, he is set to stay put in West London.

“I’ve always made it very clear that I’ve always been very happy playing for Chelsea. I never said that I want to leave the club,” said Willian.

“This is a new era, with a new manager and I’ve had a very good conversation with him, so I hope we can enjoy a lot of victories.”

Willian’s compatriot David Luiz, who is also set to remain at Chelsea after falling out with Conte last season, is backing his Brazilian team-mate to stay.

“He’s a fantastic player and a fantastic friend,” said Luiz.

“I’ve known Willian a long time, since I was eight. He loves Chelsea – he played at Wembley after the World Cup, he already showed his quality.

“Since the beginning, he told me he loved Chelsea. To leave, he would have to do something totally out of reality or if Chelsea really wanted to kick him out.

“But this is not the reality – Chelsea loves Willian, and Willian loves Chelsea, so that’s great.”

The Bookmakers are convinced too that Willian will be staying true to his word and remaining, with PaddyPower rating him at 4/11 to stay with Chelsea.
