Jack Wilshere is focused on winning a place in England’s World Cup squad and Bookmakers are backing him to make Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Wilshere has not played for his country since 2016, and he has battled back from injury and a loan stint at Bournemouth to win back his first-team place at Arsenal.
The 26-year-old has started Arsenal’s last six games – and looks back to his best, and the player himself is in buoyant mood.
Wiilshere scored his first goal of the season in the midweek draw with Chelsea, and questions are being asked about his future as his contract expires in the summer – but he is firmly focused on making it to Russia with England.
“I want to be going to Russia,” said Wilshere.
“We’ve got to take each game as it comes, keep playing in this time, keep improving and we’ll see what comes in March for the next international games.”
And Bookmakers are firmly behind Wilshere and he is now odds-on to make the cut with Coral making him 4/5.
“It wasn’t long ago that Jack Wilshere was one of the first names on the England team-sheet and after his run of games for Arsenal recently, punters feel he will be back in the fold and given a seat on the plan to Russia next summer where he is now odds-on to be in the World Cup squad,” said Coral’s John Hill.
