Winks more likely than Wilshere to be in Russia

After maintaining his place in the England squad, Tottenham’s Harry Winks is now more likely to go to the World Cup than Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

Spurs young midfielder has been in superb form and made his England debut against Lithuania last month.

He is back in the squad for the forthcoming friendlies against Germany and Brazil – but WIlshere has not been so lucky.

Fit again Wilshere is back involved at Arsenal and despite talk of a recall under Gareth Southgate, one was not forthcoming for the 25-year-old – who won’t be adding to his 34 caps anytime soon.

Now Bookmakers think that Winks is more likely to be on the place to Russia for the World Cup next summer, than Wilshere. Ladbrokes rate Winks at 7/10 and Wilshere at 17/10 to make the England squad.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “As far as our traders are concerned it’s Winks who is winning the race for a place on England’s plane to Russia – and it’s Wilshere who could miss out as a result.”
