Winx cut for Ascot glory after breaking world record

Australian wonder horse Winx has seen her odds cut further for success at Royal Ascot this summer, as her brilliant run Down Under.

The brilliant mare mare broke the world record of 17 wins at flat racing’s Group One level with victory in the George Ryder Stakes in Sydney.

The Chris Waller-trained six-year-old, under jockey Hugh Bowman, is now unbeaten in 24 races over the past three-years.

The win at Rosehill saw Winx eclipse beat the previous record of 16 wins set by American horse John Henry in 1984.

She is now being lined up for a crack at European glory and is favourite for the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot with Coral pricing her at 7/4.

“The Winx winning run has reached 24, including a world record 17 Group Ones, and now we wait to see if connections send her on her travels,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“Ŵe make her 7-4 for the Queen Anne as things stand, but if she does come to Royal Ascot she would be an odds-on favourite for the meeting’s opening race.”
