Wolves up for Joao Felix battle

Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to rival Europe’s giants to try and land the hottest prospect in Portuguese football Joao Felix.

Wolves have asked super agent Jorge Mendes to help try and broker a deal for Felix – who he looks after, but he has nearly every major club wanting to talk to him about the teenager.

The 19-year-old forward has burst onto the first-team scene this season and has bagged eight goals in 10 starts having been pushed into a striking role – as he is normally an attacking midfielder.

His form has attracted Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, PSG, Juventus and AC Milan – whilst Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are also keen.

But Wolves are hoping their relationship with Mendes – which has already seen the likes of Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio attracted to Molineux – could help sway the deal, and they also hope to qualify for the Europa League this season which gave them extra pulling power.

Mendes is open to the idea of his client being given regular Premier League football, and the fact there is a large Portuguese within the squad could only help.

One issue Wolves have is that Felix’s price tag is increasing by the week, although it is believed a deal starting at £50million would get the move done.

Wolves already have Raul Jimenez on-loan from Benfica, and there plan is ideally to sign him as well as Felix as they hope to push for a top-six spot next season – to do so they need quality in-depth throughout the squad.

As it stands the Bookmakers like Wolves’ chance and BetVictor have them as narrow favourites to land him at 4/1 ahead of Manchester United.
