World Cup Preview – Group C | Australia v Peru – Denmark v France

France only need a point from their final game with Denmark to win Group C.

The French have already booked their place in the last 16, but they could still be beaten to top-spot if they lose, which would then see Denmark finish top.

However, a win for France could see Denmark miss out on qualification all together if Australia beat Peru in the other game.

France know winning the group will see them avoid Group D winners Croatia – and one of the most impressive teams seen in Russia thus far.

“In that Group (D), Croatia seem to be the most dangerous opponent so let’s try to finish first to avoid them,” said midfielder Corentin Tolisso.

Danish boss Age Hareide believes France can be beaten, despite starting with two wins.

“France may be considered among the favourites and have six points but they have not been finishing off opponents,” Hareide said.

“They have been pushed to the wire to get the points. They played well in the friendlies, but have not played well so far in the World Cup.”

Australia boss Bert van Marwijk insists he can’t think about what Denmark might do.

“For me it is only important that we beat Peru,” van Marwijk said.

“The rest, I have no influence over.”
