World Cup qualifying previews – Home nations

The latest round of the World Cup qualifying takes place this weekend and most eyes will be on Hampden where the ‘Auld Enemy’ England take on Scotland.

The oldest fixture in world football, Scotland are in need of a win to keep up their hopes of making Russia next summer – where as England look to keep up their unbeaten run in the qualification campaign so far.

Whilst England are clear at the top of Group F, Scotland lie in fourth, but just two points separates them from Slovakia and Slovenia – and three points for Gordon Strachan’s men could give them a real chance of maintaining their hopes of a top-two finish.

In Group C, Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland – who lie in second, behind Germany – are looking to maintain their push for the finals as they travel to Azerbaijan.

Group D sees both Republic of Ireland and Wales in action. Serbia are currently top on goal difference from the Irish, but that could change on Sunday.

Serbia host Wales – who are looking to close the gap on the top-two, and if Chris Coleman’s men take anything from the game then that will given Martin O’Neill’s side the chance to go top – but they will need to overcome Austria in Dublin.

See below for a run-down on the game, including predictions from former England, Crystal Palace and Tottenham midfielder and GamblingTimes.com columnist Andy Gray and our own Football Insider Graeme Bailey, together with everything you need to know from the bookies – this week with Ladbrokes’s Richard Marsh.
