Zidane ready to return as United talk continues

Zinedine Zidane has admitted that he is ready to get back into football management, as he continues to be linked with Manchester United.

Zidane left Real Madrid at the end of last season after they secured a third successive Champions League title.

Recent weeks have seen him constantly linked with a possible switch to Old Trafford, as pressure mounts on Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese was angered by United’s poor transfer window in the summer, and their in-different start to the new season has only heaped pressure on the Red Devils boss.

United sources have played down speculation that they could be looking at replacing Mourinho, but reports have claimed that executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is considering his options.

Now Zidane has confirmed that he is looking to get back into management.

When asked by Spanish broadcaster TVE ifhe was ready to return, he said: ‘Yes, surely. Soon I will return to training because it is what I like and is what I have done all my life.”

Zidane is now odds-on at 10-11 with leading bookmaker Coral to be the next United manager following another surge of bets.

Antonio Conte is second best in the betting at 6-1, while Mauricio Pochettino can be backed at 10-1.

“Zidane has hinted he is eager to get back into management as soon as possible and that has prompted another flurry of bets for him to become the next Manchester United boss where he is now odds-on to take over from Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford,” said Coral’s John Hill.
