Zlatan backed to hit the net again

Bookmakers believe that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have little trouble hitting the goals trail again for Manchester United when he returns from injury.

The Swedish superstar has penned a new one-year deal with Old Trafford giants despite the fact he is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered late last season.

Ibrahimovic managed 28 goals for United last season after joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain.

Ibrahimovic is due back around October/November, by which time he will be 36 – but he is expecting to make a big contribution to Jose Mourinho’s squad upon his return.

“I am back to finish what I started. It was always mine and the club’s intention for me to stay.

“I cannot wait to get back out on that Old Trafford pitch, but I also know that I have to take my time to make sure that I am ready.

“I have been working hard and will continue to do so to make sure I am in the best possible condition for my return to the pitch.”

Bookmakers now feel that Ibrahimovic will find few problems in rediscovering his form.

He is 7/4 with Ladbrokes to score on his second debut for the club, and he is Evens to hit double figures again.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Lukaku will have to get used to sharing the limelight – and quick – because all eyes in Manchester will now be on the returning Zlatan.”

“It’s been 12 years since Ibra failed to net 10 or more league goals and we can’t see that changing this season, even if he does miss a chunk of the campaign through injury.”
