Marseille confident over Olivier Giroud

Marseille have made a move for Olivier Giroud and believe they are in pole position to land the French star.

The 30-year-old signed a new long-term deal in January, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to facilitate a move – should Giroud desire.

TheGamblingTimes.com revealed last month that Arsenal would be willing to let Giroud leave this summer.

Now with Alexandre Lacazette signed and ready to start the season leading the line, Giroud is aware that if he stays – he will be limited to mostly substitute appearances.

Giroud and his representatives are now talking to numerous interested parties, and a number of clubs are keen.

West Ham had been leading the chase, but the cost of the package and Giroud’s reluctance to commit quickly has seen them move on.

Everton and Borussia Dortmund are also very keen, but sources have told me that Marseille have moved to the front of the queue after making it clear their financial package was substantial.

Giroud would also be open to the prospect of moving back to his native South of France – although it is understood the chance of first-team football will play a big role in his decision.

SkyBet currently have Everton at odds on favourites to land Giroud at 10/11, Dortmund are 11/4 and Marseille are 16/1. Staying at Arsenal remains an option and they are listed at 9/4 to keep him.
