Rashford staying put but Martial facing exit

Manchester United will not contemplate allowing Marcus Rashford to leave the club, but the same can’t be said of fellow forward Anthony Martial – who could very well will be heading for the exit door.

Both Rashford and Martial have been in and out of the first-team under Jose Mourinho this season, and the January signing of Alexis Sanchez has further limited their chances.

However, reports both players could leave – have been shot down by United sources, although one of them could very well be on his way, and that is Martial.

We revealed last summer that Martial was not convinced about his long-term future at Old Trafford, and nothing has happened since then to alter his belief.

And United’s hierarchy are aware that the 22-year-old has substantial market value, and they know a number of clubs both in England and the continent would gladly taken them – which could indeed help them with some of their own targets.

I understand that Arsenal, Paris Saint Germain, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are the clubs leading the chase for Martial – who is aware of the interest in him.

And whilst Marital does look likely to leave, the same can’t be said of Rashford – a source told me that there was ‘no chance’ of the 20-year-old being allowed to leave this summer.

Reports claim Rashford is putting contract talks on hold due to his current situation at United, but the club are more than confident that he will opt to sign a fresh deal, if and, when it is offered – which could be this summer.

Bookmakers firmly believe that Rashford will be staying put and is as short as 1/9 with Paddy Power to remain, whilst PSG are made favourites of the clubs interested in Martial at 4/1.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Mourinho’s pathetic title challenge has left some serious question marks above Martial and Rashford’s heads.

“The promising talents have been left minus game time but plus some insecurity issues. The Jose Effect.”
